Cette repr\u00e9sentation de la M\u00e8re de Notre Seigneur est centr\u00e9e sur le chapelet, nous allons voir pourquoi.<\/span><\/p>

Le mot chapelet tire son origine d\u2019un vieux mot fran\u00e7ais, chapel, qui signifiait chapeau. Lors de certaines f\u00eates, une coutume voulait que l\u2019on se coiffe d\u2019un chapeau de fleurs tress\u00e9es les unes aux autres, comme une couronne.<\/span><\/p>

Ainsi au XIVe si\u00e8cle on aimait \u00e0 disposer des couronnes de roses sur les statues de la Vierge, \u00e0 l\u2019image des jeunes filles de l\u2019\u00e9poque.<\/span><\/p>

A la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode, les dominicains commenc\u00e8rent la diffusion du Psautier de la Vierge, un des anc\u00eatres du chapelet, compos\u00e9 de 150 Ave Maria (en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux 150 psaumes de la Bible, d\u2019o\u00f9 son nom : Psautier de la Vierge).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

La tradition nous dit que Saint Dominique, fondateur des dominicains, aurait re\u00e7u, de la Sainte Vierge, le chapelet dans sa forme que nous lui connaissons aujourd\u2019hui. Ainsi, le Psautier de la Vierge prit le nom de chapelet, en l\u2019honneur des couronnes de roses offertes \u00e0 Marie, les roses ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9es par des perles de bois.<\/span><\/p>

Comme disait Saint Dominique, Prier le chapelet, c\u2019est comme offrir une rose \u00e0 la Vierge pour chaque Ave Maria.<\/span><\/p>
